The x-tention group is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Herbert Stöger, Managing Director of x-tention Informationstechnologie GmbH, founded the group’s original company in 2001. A small team of seven colleagues started out by setting up an IT infrastructure for Wels-Grieskirchen Hospital in Wels, Upper Austria, and just ten years later, x-tention had over 100 employees and a German subsidiary. Today the group employs over 550 people from more than 25 countries at locations in Austria, Germany, the UK, Switzerland and the USA. As well as x-tention Informationstechnologie GmbH, the x-tention group includes the companies soffico AG, InterComponentWare GmbH, FAKTOR D consulting GmbH, it for industries GmbH and Cloud21 Ltd.
International demand for x-tention group’s IT expertise
Digitalization in the health and social care system is making progress worldwide, and a few highly specialized IT companies are leading the way in the development of new processes and cutting-edge services. As a complete solutions provider, the x-tention group is one of those specialists, making it one of the leading innovators in European healthcare IT. x-tention’s own Orchestra eHealth Suite offers a comprehensive, customizable exchange platform for medical data and documents. ‘The digitalization of processes will make healthcare institutions even more effective and efficient,’ says Herbert Stöger, Managing Director of the x-tention group. ‘Patients are more closely involved in their treatment processes and have full access to their health record. That ensures transparency and meets the requirements of today’s patients, who want to be involved in decision-making processes.’
An employer with good prospects
x-tention is a complete IT solutions provider, and its future looks bright due to the increased demand for digital services, such as national patient records, and state funding for digital transformation, particularly in hospitals. Efficient processes within the group underpin its successful projects. The workspaces are integrated into cutting-edge infrastructures, allowing the IT specialists to work in international teams for large projects. This makes x-tention an especially attractive employer for young employees in particular. About 40% of the staff are under 30, and the proportion of female IT experts is at 30% and rising.
Long-term client relationships are a sign of success
The majority of the group’s clients come from healthcare and industry. x-tention’s IT experts support over 1,000 clients, primarily hospitals and hospital groups, social institutions, doctors’ practices, emergency services, companies and health insurance providers. Among their biggest clients are Germany’s largest health insurance provider AOK, which insures 26 million people, and the Helios hospital group, one of Europe’s largest providers of inpatient treatment centres. The push for digitalization in recent years has resulted in an increased number of digitalization projects – with both new and existing clients. ‘Many of our clients are repeat customers,’ says Managing Director Wolfgang Pramendorfer. ‘They embark on new projects and continue to rely on our expertise. We’re proud to have so many years of collaboration under our belt with many clients, and together with all our staff, we look forward to the next 20 years of success!’
