x‐tention Informationstechnologie GmbH, a complete IT solutions provider from Wels, Austria, has shown once again that it is a pioneering company by becoming the first company to be awarded with the ‘Verified data protection management system’ certification by TÜV Austria at the end of December 2018.

Commenting on the new certification, Managing Director Herbert Stöger says, ‘Our company offers IT and electronic data processing products and services.  As health and social care are our main areas of activity, everything we do is inextricably linked with information security and data protection.’

Fellow managing director Wolfgang Pramendorfer says that the TÜV certification is a logical addition to the company’s accreditations: ‘We have been certified with ISO/IEC 27001 for information security management since 2011. We’re continuing to strengthen our role as a leader in healthcare IT by becoming the first-ever company to be awarded the “Verified data protection management system” certification from TÜV Austria.’

‘When we process healthcare data, we go above and beyond compliance; we’ve been taking a leading role in data protection and information security for years. In doing so, we’ve been constantly raising the bar and passing our new expertise on to our customers,’ says Michael Punz, Head of Information Security, Data Protection and Process and Quality Management.

Arno Lippmann, Head of TÜV Trust IT, is proud that TÜV Austria successfully launched its first corporate data protection certificate – the ‘Verified data protection management system’ certification – in December 2018, just six months after the introduction of GDPR. He is delighted that x-tention was the first company in Austria to be certified. The certification process examines and verifies a company’s processes for implementing data protection requirements to ensure it meets accountability standards. ‘Data protection specialists from TÜV Trust IT, a wholly owned subsidiary of the TÜV Austria Group, perform an audit as part of the certification process to determine how effectively a company’s data protection management system works,’ adds Arno Lippmann.
